Back to Youtubes

Hello blog! So just a bit of news today. I had planned on writing two or three posts, but alas, something took entirely too long to do. Oh well, I shall write them another time.

An update on Spoonflower, I finished 38th out of 75 in the murder mystery toile contest, which had me delighted. I didn't think I'd place that high. lol. I entered this week's contest, Mardi Gras, but only because I wanted to see if I could manage to do what I'd thought of trying.... if that makes sense... lol.

That's my entry. I made some beads.  The image was originally supposed to repeat normally, rather than mirror, like it does now, but I ended up liking the patterns the mirror image made. The mirror image makes the kinks in the necklaces wildly apparent, but eh, I had fun. :)

My Valentine's Day entry is ready to go. I had different plans originally, but disliked how it was going, so I stashed the idea (I'll come back to it someday maybe) and went another direction. I'll wait to share that entry with you next week, though it's possible you've already seen it. :)

New blog look

Just a quick post to let you know... in case you haven't yet noticed... I changed my blog! The mobile version is not the same as the desktop version, because I didn't want to bother with the mobile version. lol. But yeah! WOOT

Dyeing With Foam

Helloooo blog.

So today I decided it was time to dye my hair again. I've been dyeing my hair a dark dark red for a few months now, and I'm still not tired of it, so yeah. I went to the store to pick up the kind I normally get, but they didn't have it. So I grabbed a foam dye. Never tried foam dye before, was always iffy about it.

Normally I get Garnier, but it's always the normal stuff. I grab the ultra color ones because I have black hair, and the ultra colored ones are for dark hair. These "intense color" dealies are fairly new to me, I've only seen them pop up in the last few years. I got excited when I first saw them, until I turned it around and saw:

Oh awesome! So "Dark hair" to color companies is "Light brown". AWESOME. Once again I'm left out in the color spectrum. lol. So since my hair is a natural black, I always expect my result to be a few shades darker.

You know what time it is...

It's time for a change. Not sure what those changes will be exactly.  Or if I'll succeed at making the changes. But the change is needed on this blog.

Thinking of other posts I could possibly start doing. Mayhaps some reviews or tutorials or who knows what.

I'm even considering vlogging again, this time on my own, as frightening as that thought might be. I used to vlog as part of a collab channel, where there were at least four other people as a support system. But on my own is... well... just me. It also doesn't help that I don't have video editing software anymore. Guess we'll see on the vlogging thing.

And lastly, I'm thinking of changing the layout again. It was about two years before I changed the layout the first time, and the next two year mark is upon us again. This time though, I'm thinking of designing it all myself. The first layout was made with images from free stock. I just changed the colors to match the colors of the blog - which was once black and blue and the name of the blog was "The Boring World of Nox". Then when I changed it to the dandelion layout, that was easy. I came across it as a premade blogger layout. Fell in love with it because of my love for dandelions. I only added some text to the main image ("noxy's gotten bored of her "Boring world", but that doesn't mean it still isn't boring" and "Dandelions Fly Through Blue Air")

So yeah, we'll see. I'll try. Not sure how I want to change the layout right now. Thinking of doing my own drawing for it though... mayhaps I'll reuse some of my toile de jouy drawing for it. Or I might draw a retro me that isn't a stripper... yeah I don't know.

Will end the post with a picture:

This was a salad I had just last night. It was all sorts of delicious. Two types of lettuce and some spinach, two types of tomatos, baby bella mushrooms, avocado, walnuts, and dried mixed berries. All drizzled lightly with some lemon juice. When I make my own salads, I often only use lemon juice, but if I order a salad somewhere, it NEEDS dressing. I don't know why that is. heh.

Contests...

Hello again lovelies. Just writing here today to talk about contests.

An update on the Doctor Who Christmas Competition, they finally announced the winners, and I was not one of them. No worries. A few of the folks have pointed out how flawed the contest was, and I have to agree with them. I hate saying that now, because it sounds like I'm a sore loser, but the rules were to get as many likes as you could in a set amount of time, then the top ten most liked would get judged. Their "set amount of time" wasn't actually set, so there were folks getting as many likes as they could past that "set time".  Had they stopped on Christmas Eve, like they were originally supposed to, the top ten would have been quite different. I blame the people who ran the contest, for not having a certain set of rules and then not even following the ones they had themselves. Ah well though, they'll be having another contest soon, and if I can I plan to enter. Can't win if you don't enter, right? :)

And now I'd like to talk about a site called Spoonflower. It's a site that allows you to upload your designs and order them as fabric. Or you can also order others' designs as fabric. I'm in love with this site, but I don't have the means to purchase any fabric at the moment. However, Spoonflower runs weekly contests for new designs. They give you each week's contest a few weeks in advance to work on them, which is lovely. And the winner gets a $100 credit for a Spoonflower order. But I got wind of all of this just this past Saturday, and wanted to enter the contest that was starting this week. I've mentioned it in the previous posts, the entry was due on the 15th.

Meeting again Pt 2 (MORE IMAGES)

Hello again. It seems as though my mind is unable to work on the contest entry I mentioned previously until I get the rest of this posted, so here I am. No worries. Technically speaking, I only just heard of the contest and the entry is due the 15th, which essentially gives me one day to attempt an entry. Since I only just heard about it, I'm not stressing about it. I have an idea for it, (essentially it's an art contest) but it's a style I've never done before, so if I can't get it to work, oh well. I just want to try. Why not.

So, instead of having some sort of order and time frame for these pictures, they're essentially random pics I just wanted to share.

The first six though, are my nails. lol.

First, we have my TARDIS nails. I attempted them for the first time for C2E2 in March, and loved them so much I did them again for Chicago Comic Con. I used masking tape to ensure straight lines, and painted the yellow with a layer of glow in the dark acrylic paint before sealing it all with clear polish, so the windows glowed. lol.

The first are 80's. I found a tutorial on Youtube for them. Two of the nails I have to show are tutorial nails, two were done with pics for references, and two were done off the top of my head. (The tardis ones were off the top of my head) These were 80's because sometime last year, there was an 80's night at the club my friends and I used to go to, and seeing as how just a few months ago we'd gotten together to do an 80's photo shoot, we figured it would be the perfect time to recreate our looks and actually go out. I have a pic of me and a friend from that night too, it's somewhere below. :)

We meet again, Blog. Pt. 1 (IMAGE HEAVY)

We meet again. How have you been? April's the last post eh? Yeah...
I stopped being interested in posting. In general. Although a lot of times I might have come across a project or an event I went to and thought to myself "I should blog this!" My immediate thought response was, "...Nah."

So now here I am, blogging. Because I actually feel like it. I believe in the past I've "played catch up" before by creating a week's worth of blog posts on individual topics until I've completely caught up. I'm... not doing that this time. This time I'm thinking this post and maybe one more will be the catching up, and that's it. Within this post and possibly another, I'll mainly just either write a bit about projects, or share some photos. I've gone through the past few months, almost a year, and chosen over 60 pictures to share. And probably some bits I didn't manage to take pictures of. So here we go!!

First, we have some pictures of c2e2 that happened back in March. I had promised to share some pictures, so here's a couple. This first one is of my guy. He was taking a smoke break at the time, and I made him use a mustache I'd gotten inside. I ended up liking this picture so much I sepia-ed it and made a frame:

This pic is me as a super hero. I think it's adorable. And below is my dad holding his superhero pic.

My dad trying on a lovely hat.

This pic is of my and Amy Okuda, who plays Tinkerballa, on the web series The Guild.
