blocked

An adorable icon I found ages ago. Sweeney Todd. Hehehe. Sooo cute. I love that movie.

If that isn't one gorgeously perfect ED, then I don't know what is. I adore this picture of her. It's so perfect. Her name is Lolita. Marina is putting her up for ebay soon. How I wish I had the money to even bid for her.

But anyhoo, so I hit blocks. Walls. It happens a lot. I get major distractions. Do you have any idea how long it takes me to write a blog entry? I get distracted so often it ends up taking hours, even a full day, to get it written out. In my head I have a dozen things I want to do, but the main part of my mind doesn't want to. I've barely gotten anywhere as far as what I wanted to get done in order to set up an etsy shop. Now my mind seems fixated on something else, on writing a novel in fact, and it won't effin' shut up about it. So now what? Do I continue on my etsy journey? Or do I start a journey through my literary mind? I know the answer. Oh yes. I do. It's:
STOP MESSING WITH ME BRAIN BEFORE I STAB YOU WITH A SPORK!!!!
Yes. That sounds about right.Basically what I'll be doing now, is putting my clay makings on hold, pausing it if you will, and messing with getting my ideas down about my story. Hopefully, I'll be able to get down all the ideas in my head about it, and then be able to return to the etsy mission without interuption.

So what I'm saying is... no progress on the mouse habitats. I made a white mouse that's similar in size to the black one, but I HATE the red eyes I gave it, so I may end up yanking that bit of felt out and replacing it with plain black eyes. I had started on an aquarium-like tank for the habitat of one of the mice... and it pissed me off something fierce. I'd never done something quite like this before. I used super glue to attach the walls. The fact that I learned nothing from NCIS doesn't help either. According to Abby, (forensics specialist at NCIS) super glue, when used as a gas, attaches itself to fingerprints, making it easier to lift a print off of an object.... in my defense, I've only ever seen her use a gas, not just spreading superglue in liquid form on a piece of paper or something. But, when using the liquid form, as it dries it does release a form of gas.... which made my walls of the aquarium smudged up like CRAZY with my stupid fingerprints. UGH. I ended up using q-tips and acetone nail polish to try and clean it up a bit, but since the walls are also plastic, I may have also clouded up the walls permanently. It's at a transparency I'm comfortable with to continue, but what the ef am I supposed to do in the future?! When I don't want to get smudgy superglue fingerprints all over the "glass"?! I guess I'll have to see about using rubber gloves when handling the "glass" before the superglue phase. Ugh.

The good news is, my dad's creativity works well with mine. ROFL. He makes sticks. Also known as LARTS. Basically, if you click on that "sticks" link, you'll see that they are paddles. He made one for himself way back when he worked at his previous job. When he moved to his new job, he brought his stick with him, and it was welcomed with awe. For Christmas, he made his boss a stick. Then he made another... then he deviated from his original design, to create a smaller, "cuter" stick. Then... he basically looked for any excuse to make a stick. He made one for me, and my brother, and his girlfriend, (my boyfriend didn't want one) and made one for my friend too, and my mom... the rest all belong to coworkers. He's deviated twice since, to make a stick with a handle twice as long, (to resemble a cricket bat) and a double stick. He's currently scheduled to make four more of them. Three for coworkers, and one for my brother's friend. He doesn't charge for them, though I mentioned he should consider it. I think he shares my ideals - or do I share his? - about selling. I like to make things, for fun. If I start trying to sell things, it'll be more of a competition. And I'm not competitive. Even if it's a competition against myself. Probably why I have so many reservations against etsy.

Anyway, he makes these sticks down in the basement, so a quarter of the basement is covered in sawdust and wood shavings. And the shaving happens to work perfectly for the bedding in the bottom of the "aquarium"! Yay! So I told him to mind his shavings, so that I may steal them when needed. lol.

I sent my ED buddy Ruth a package last week. She got it Monday. Yay! It's of the mouserat I showed you, and a couple other things. I had planned on taking pics of the package pre-packed, even had my camera there! But I got all excited, and wanted to see if it would all fit in the box I used, so I forgot. So sad. But Ruth said she'd takes some pics, so I'll get to share them yet! I sent a clay book, made to look like leather.... actually I do have a pic of that somewhere....
Tada... I'm pretty sure that's the one I sent, I made two and they're almost exactly the same, one's just a tiny bit wider where the other is a tiny bit taller.

I also sent a little clay "balloon dog", and a carrot for the mouserat, and a little stuffed puppy... and a pillow and comforter set. I think that's all I sent. Can't remember anymore. Hehe. But yeah, it was fun sending presents to Ruth and Yren.

I'm going to have to wrap this up, because I'm heading over to my friend's house for a sleepover. Which means, rain check! I have a cute clay creation to share, that ties in to my dad's sticks, so don't forget about them. lol.

I just got back from the library, where I checked out 19 books. ROFL. Mind you, half is for the boyfriend to read. (the smaller half. lol... he got 9) We just use my library card because technically his address is still his parent's house, which is in a township of a city... and apparently that means it's not free for a library card when you live in the township. So, I just take him with me to my library, and check out what he wants for him. He lives with me in my room anyway. lol. I checked out A Lion Among Men again... because I got about 70 pages in to it when I started reading it, and I couldn't read any further. I plan on forcing myself to finish.

I'm 2 discs in to NCIS season 5, and my dad is planning on buying season 6 on Friday. Yay! That means I might be able to get all caught up by Tuesday, when the season premieres. Woot! I've only been looking forward to three premieres this season, though I had meant to catch the premiere of Glee. Dern it. But yeah, I'm waiting for Monday for DWtS and Castle, then Tuesday is NCIS!

What the heck am I doing?! Wasn't supposed to be leaving?! AWAY NOXY... AWAY!

  1. Ruth is indeed going to take pictures of everything you made and sent to her girl Yren! We love it! My son loves the little mouse so much, he made him some polymer clay slices of cheese to eat! And for the little dog he made a bone, a food dish, and a fire hydrant!:-)
We keep the animals in her box with her, and she always rests on her beautiful comforter and pillow. Today my sister was playing with her and arranged her very sweetly sleeping on them--I should have taken a picture right then but I'm an idiot. Maybe I can get her to do it again tomorrow morning when the light is good...

  2. Noxy wow - I can't believe you made that book, it's fantastic!!
When will we get to see more pictures of the dolls you made? Are they on your flickr, I always remember being blown away by them.

Also, I found a little lump of wool here. I remember you saying you were running out of wool to make felt creatures with. It's all grey though, so you'd have to make things that were grey, grey bears, grey cats, grey mice.. etc. Do you want it? Pm me on the forum if you would :)
