Maybelline Color Whispers - Rave, Review, and Tiny Giveaway (Pic Heavy)

For a long while now, I've been on the lookout for a lipstick I could love. And I think I found it in Color Whispers by Maybelline.
Description on official site:
Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel.
No heavy waxes or oils.
Soft, sexy gel-color.

I dislike judging a book by it's cover, but I was initially immediately drawn to the display by the looks of the lipstick, as much as I hate to say it. The lipstick tube is slightly thinner than most, and the clear top paired with the wispy font appealed to me, and I decided I had to try this lipstick. There are twenty colors to choose from. I started out with just one color - Bare to Be Bold - and loved it so much I now have what you see above.*

The covers of the cases don't represent the colors that well, they only just vaguely remind you of the color.

Actually, the colors you see outside of the cases don't really represent the colors all that well either. These colors go on sheer.

And below I added swatches on my arm to see the difference.

You can only just barely see Bare to Be Bold on my skin, though bear in mind my lips are rosier than my skin tone.


I also took some pictures of me wearing each shade. Here's me with no lipstick on:

Along with a full pic of me in the color, I'm also sharing a picture of just my lips, where I've only put the color on one half, to show the difference. Of course, because of how sheer these colors are, you might not be able to see much of a difference.

Bare to Be Bold (10)

This side has color  ||  This side does not

 It lightens my lips ever so slightly.

 I love nude lips, so I was very happy to find this color. There's one more color before this one - Go Nude (05) - that I don't have, but might get in the future, just to see how much "nuder" it might make my lips.

Some Like it Taupe (15)

This side has color  ||  This side does not

It looks more like a natural nude than (10), at least on my skin tone.

(Looking at these pictures, I've found I use this pose a lot. Sorry. lol.)

Lust for Blush (25)

 This one looks most like my natural lip color I think, so it feels more like a color corrector for my lips.

Pin Up Peach (30)

This side has color  ||  This doesn't

Makes my lips a slight peach color, and it is one of my absolute favorites.

 I keep this one and one other on my person at all times.

Who Wore it Red-er (45)

This side has color  ||  This side does not

This one only has a slight red tint to it. It's more on the pink side than anything, so it's not an orange-toned red, which I like a lot, because orange toned red does not look all that great on me. It's a darker color than I normally go for, but I still like it.

Only slightly related note on the name of this product: This is probably bad, but when I look at a bunch of words, sometimes they bunch together and make the wrong combination. (Especially when looking at websites that use multiple words in their address) And whenever I see this particular combination of words - "Who Wore it Red-er" - my mind always, always reads it first as "Whore Red". *blushes*

 This is a lot like Lust for Blush on my lips, except it's more pink.

Rose of Attraction (75)

 This is a darker pink than Pink Possibilities, and I love it.

 It's my second favorite, next to Pin Up Peach, and is the other one that is always in my purse or my coat pocket, which surprises me somewhat, because I had originally figured one of the nude colors would trump this shade. *shrugs*

A Plum Prospect (100)

 This and the red one were the last two I purchased*, mainly because I tend to shy away from darker colors, but this one was recommended to me by a Youtuber I love, so here it is.

 I do like the slight purple tinge it gives my lips.

The lipstick itself feels fantabulous. It's not too thick, and it's not sticky. It is a bit slick, so reapplication is fairly frequent, but personally, it doesn't matter to me if I have to reapply it. It feels so nice on my lips. I've begun to throw it on habitually, even without makeup, just to have it on my lips - which I have never done with lipstick before. Heck, I don't even do that with regular moisturizing lip balms.


I love, love, LOVE these lipsticks. I love how they feel on my lips, and how thin and sheer they come out color-wise. I've been itching to have some natural, nude colors to wear, so most of these lipsticks are perfect for me. And while I do occasionally like color on my lips, I've never been too big a fan of the super pigmented, thick lipsticks out there that are often the norm, so the "bolder" colors I have are perfect for me too! There are about 4 or 5 more Color Whispers I might also be interested in, of the 20 available. lol.
