Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razor Review

Earlier this month, I joined a BzzAgent campaign for Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razors. I received one from them to test out for myself, and today is my review for it!

The razor came with four coupons! Who wants one? I have three to giveaway, (I'm keeping one! hee) just shoot me a tweet or go to the "Contact noxy page" and email me. :)

Info taken from the BzzAgent campaign:

THE HYDRATION HYPE IS FOR REAL
Hypoallergenic Moisturizing Serum infused with Shea Butter. 5 Curve-Sensing™ blades. Skin Guards. All those features might just sound like bells and whistles for now, but trust us – as soon as you take a few strokes with Schick® Hydro Silk® Sensitive Care® razor, everything will make perfect sense.

Winter can be especially tough on sensitive skin. Dermatologist-tested Schick® Hydro Silk® Sensitive Care® razor delivers a better hydration boost than any other razor. The Hypoallergenic Moisturizing Serum hydrates your skin for up to two hours after shaving while the 5 Curve-Sensing™ blades protect your skin from irritation. So even while you’re bundled up in a parka, your legs will feel like hitting the beach all winter long.

First thoughts? Alriiiight, a new razor to try!

Additional pics of the package:

"Hydrates & protects your sensitive skin against irritation."
"Designed to handle even your most sensitive areas including underarms and bikini."

Inside instructions

More pics of the razor:

The razor came with two replacement cartridges and a "stylish travel cover", which I suppose is pretty stylish. lol. It's all pearlesccent and pretty.

The Hydro Silk Sensitive Care Razor features a "Hypoallergenic moisturizing serum infused with shea butter".

This differs from the Original Hydro Silk Razor, which has a "Water-Activated Moisturizing Serum infused with marine extracts."

Although, according to the inside instructions, the Sensitive Care razor's serum is also water-activated.

That's the only difference between the original and Sensitive Care. The other features include:
"Unique Skin Guards on each blade help protect against irritation"
"5 Curve Sensing Blades give incredible closeness"

Enough official info! Time to try the product!

I must confess, I can't remember the last time I had a Schick razor. I can't remember if I've ever had one. If I'm grabbing a quick pack of razors, (which is what I preferred as a teen) it's usually Bic, and if it's a razor with refillable cartridges, it's usually Gillette. I'm not sure why it's that way, it just is, despite me being interested in the Schick Intuition for years. I'm glad I get to try a Schick, nice change of pace. lol.

I hopped in to the shower and lathered up with some Skintimate Shaving Gel as instructed. (Yes, it does suggest Skintimate - but I didn't run out and buy some just because of their suggestion, I just happen to already use it.)

First thing I noticed with this razor is something I notice with most refillable razors - SLIME. Ooooh the slime. The slime for this razor is due to the "water-activated serum". It looks awful and I have a real issue with slimy/sticky textures. But, again, if it's anything like other refillable razors, the amount of slime will die down the more I use it. lol.

The curve of the handle is so, so lovely. I noticed that halfway through shaving the first leg. It was sort of a commercial moment.

*enter commercial, noxy, strategically covered, shaving her leg*

*overly shocked expression. noxy raises the razor up and twists it slowly to examine the handle.*

noxy thinks, "Wow, that is a really fabulous handle. It's so comfortable!"

*sexy smile, noxy laughs while holding the razor close to her face*

....Okay, so maybe only the second and third line happened. lol. Moving on.

The skin guards! I love the skin guards on this razor. I must admit, I'm prone to getting nicks. This is often because I try speeding up the process and BAM, skin on my ankle gets nicked. Or somewhere similar. And I wasn't trying to consciously slow down or anything when I used the Hydro Silk Sensitive Care, I used it as I would any razor. No nicks! It's a wonderful feeling! lol

The shave was quick and easy and hours later, silky smooth. I chose to have breakfast before putting lotion on, and before I did, my legs felt noticeably less dry than they normally do out of the shower.

Overall, I really like this razor. As in, I may be switching to Schick as my go-to brand. My only issue seems to be the slime, which is really me being insane, and the slime is a part of every refillable razor anyhow, so I can't fault Schick for it if I'm not griping about anyone else's. I'm keeping a coupon so I can pick up another when I can find it in stores.
